Metaverse

A metaverse is a virtual world that is fully immersive and interconnected, where users can interact with each other and with virtual objects in a manner similar to the real world. It is a collective virtual shared space, created by the convergence of virtually enhanced physical reality and physically persistent virtual reality, including the sum total of all virtual worlds, augmented reality, and the internet. The concept of a metaverse has been popularized in science fiction and is now being actively developed by companies in the tech industry.

The concept of a metaverse has a long history in science fiction and has been explored in various forms of media, including novels, comics, and video games. The term “metaverse” was first coined by Neal Stephenson in his 1992 science fiction novel “Snow Crash.” In the book, the metaverse is a virtual reality-based successor to the internet, where users can interact with each other and with virtual objects and environments in a fully immersive way.

The concept of a metaverse has also been explored in other works of science fiction, such as William Gibson’s 1984 novel “Neuromancer” and Philip K. Dick’s 1977 novel “A Scanner Darkly.”

In recent years, advances in technology have made the development of a metaverse more feasible, and there are now a number of companies and organizations working on building metaverse platforms. Some examples include Second Life, an online virtual world launched in 2003, and the virtual reality platform, VRChat.

In recent years, with the rise of blockchain technology, decentralized metaverses have also been proposed, such as those built on the Ethereum blockchain.

It’s worth to mention that the concept of metaverse is still in development and is a topic of ongoing research and experimentation in fields such as computer science, game development, and virtual reality.

What is a Metaverse?

MetaIsland

This is the name of the Metaverse. Not the name of the Island.

Island of WOK

WOK is the name of the Island where the action is taking place. There is no relation with the woke movement whatsoever.

Wolf

Wolf is the creator of the WOK Island. It is also the name given to the admin of the game who can freeze any user in case of bad behavior. All the MetaIsland franchises are controlled by a WOLF.

W.O.K

This means Wolf Online Kingdom or Wolf Offshore Kingdom. This was the codename of the project before it was renamed to MetaIsland by Hatu our friend from Daomaker. We kept W.O.K as the name of the studio who is developing the game, the creators of the concept and the company who is holding all the copyrights of the game. W.O.K LLC, W.O.K BVI etc… are companies associated to the creators of the game. https://wok-corp.com is the website of the studio.

Metaisland Inc.

Metaisland Inc.

Metaisland Inc. is a Delaware incorporation that is holding the copyrights and trademarks of the project.

Nicolas Choukroun

He is the creator of the concept of Metaisland. MetaIsland is a metaverse based on a demo he made in a 6 month period between February 2021 and October 2021. Nicolas Choukroun is now the CEO of the W.O.K studio and is still actively programming the game with the W.O.K team, SL2 and Daomaker. ISL Token

The ISL is the native value token for the metaverse MetaIsland. It is an ERC-20 Ethereum contract. It is used for DAO, Stacking, and listing in exchanges. Soon

WOK Money

The WOK is the internal virtual currency of the metaverse. Its value is stable and is calculated as this: USD adjusted to inflation / 30. “USD adjusted to inflation” means; USD real value at starting of the game minus the inflation that devaluates it after the game token genesis. The idea is that WOK would the most stable asset existing. But it is not traded anywhere, it is used only internally inside the Metaverse. The Metaverse and its users are backing the WOK currency, because they are using it daily from inside the project and on chain through transfer to exchanges and wallets.

NFT Non fungible token

NFT stands for “non-fungible token.” In the world of cryptocurrency, a token is a digital asset that can be traded or exchanged. A fungible token is one that is interchangeable with other tokens of the same type, such as Bitcoin or Ethereum. A non-fungible token, on the other hand, is unique and cannot be replaced by another token.

An NFT is a type of digital asset that represents ownership of a unique item, such as a digital collectible, artwork, or even a tweet. These assets are stored on a blockchain, which is a digital ledger that records all transactions made with the NFT. Because the blockchain is decentralized, it allows for a high degree of security and transparency in the ownership of these digital assets.

NFTs have become increasingly popular in recent years, particularly in the art world, where they are being used to sell digital artwork, video game items, and other unique digital assets.

It’s worth to mention that due to the newness of the technology and the market, the use and value of NFTs is still being debated and understood.

Unreal Engine

Unreal Engine is a game engine developed by Epic Games. It is a collection of software tools and technologies that game developers can use to create video games, visualizations, and other interactive 3D experiences.

The engine is designed to be flexible and easy to use, allowing developers to create high-quality games for a wide range of platforms, including PC, consoles, mobile devices, and VR/AR headsets.

Unreal Engine features a wide range of tools for creating and editing 3D environments, animation, physics, and special effects, as well as a scripting language called Blueprints that allows developers to create gameplay mechanics without having to write any code. The engine also has a built-in rendering engine that can create highly detailed and realistic graphics.

Unreal Engine is widely used in the video game industry and has been used to create many critically acclaimed and commercially successful games, such as Fortnite, Gears of War, and Batman: Arkham Asylum. Additionally, it’s also used in other industries such as architecture, automotive, film and animation, and simulation.

The engine is available in two versions: Unreal Engine 4, which is the latest version, and Unreal Engine 5, which was released in May 2021, it has new features such as Nanite and Lumen, which are set to improve realism and lighting, and make the engine even more powerful and efficient than previous versions.

It is now at its 5th version and UE5 will be used to power Metaisland.

Metahumans

A MetaHuman is a high-quality digital character framework, that is created in the Unreal Engine online application MetaHuman Creator.
